MANILA, Philippines - PL Antipolo banked on the hot shooting of Mac Belo to stun defending champion Hobe Bihon, 90–88, in the third DELeague Kap. Rudy Francisco Cup, over the weekend at the Marikina Sports Center.
Belo exploded for 37 points, capping his game-long brilliance with a free throw that gave PL Antipolo an 89-88 cushion going to the last 29.29 seconds.
Jamelle Cornley, the former PBA Best Import awardee, flubbed his the two free throws in the final 14.10 seconds, resulting in a defensive rebound for Gryann Mendoza, who drew a foul from Hobe Bihon.
Also providing heavy contribution for undefeated PL Antipolo was ex-PBA player Khasim Mirza, who drilled in 18 markers.
Hobe Bihon, the team that foiled Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall in the finals last year, fell to 2-1.
In the other game, ex-PBA player Egay Billiones fired 25 points to lift the Sealions to an 88-78 victory over Galing MHS.
Tim Habelito shot 27 points while Siotu Maiva added 15 for Galing MHS, which suffered its fourth consecutive setback.
In other results, Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall defeated FEU-NRMF, 93-87, while Skyforce routed JSM-KTM, 106-69.
