Rexona stages biggest musical run

MANILA, Philippines - Eight stages, 10 of the country’s most talented musical performers, more than 12,000 runners, and the much talked about 160 feet long neon tunnel – this year, Rexona decided to give the regular fun run a drastic makeover, making it the loudest and one of this year’s most talked-about runs.

Last Oct. 20, at the Mall of Asia Grounds, Rexona staged the Philippines’ first ever multi-sensorial music run, where runners stayed fresh from the start of the race to the end of the party.

As one of the most sought-after races in the Philippines, the 2013 Rexona Run took the brand’s “Do More” philosophy to another level, literally pushing people to do more through the pulsating beats that surrounded the race routes.

From the first gun start at 3 a.m. to the finale, runners were treated to a plethora of visual and auditory experiences: live musical performances, enigmatic fist-pumping DJ sets, and a spectrum of lights.

For 21K runners, fireworks served as a unique gunstart while Sandwich played their energy-pumping song, “Sugod.”

As runners, fully equipped in their brightly colored race kits, hit the pavement, performances by Delta Street, Sandwich, The Diegos, DJ Marc Marasigan, Deuce Manila and DJ Niña accompanied all runners until the 10 km mark, while Funk Avy and DJ Khai accompanied runners through to the 21K  mark.

Stilt walkers, neon poi dancers, light dancers, neon jugglers surprised all runners as they approached each stage. Even the water stations were filled with neon lights.

Topping the non-stop music festivities were Rico Blanco, Elmo Magalona and DJ Mars Miranda, who greeted all 5K, 10K, and 21K runners at the finish line.

The Rexona Run to Your Beat would also be the first run to culminate with a rocking neon street party at the finish line. Running to the beat were the likes of Gretchen Ho, Robi Domingo, Bianca Gonzalez, and Phil Younghusband.
