CDO bets pull thru in Minda slugfest

MANILA, Philippines - Cagayan de Oro’s Carlo Paalam, Mark Lumbad and Lorenz Ladrada pulled through with unanimous decisions to barge into the finals of their respective divisions in the PLDT ABAP Mindanao boxing tournament at Tourism Hall in Cagayan de Oro yesterday.

Paalam, of CDO-A ,disposed of Jerson Moreno of MPBA in the light pinweight while teammate Lumbad dominated Eduardo Medio of Camiguin in the light flyweight.

Ladrada, of CDO-B, booted out Fedemar Antiga of Cabadbaran in the light bantam semis of the event organized by ABAP and supported by PLDT and Philippine  Sports Commission.

Flyweight Jay Boy Suan, another bet from the host city and representing Mindy’s, scored a split decision over Alan Garing of Valencia.

Paalam goes for the gold against Gingoog’s Samuel Salva, who also scored a unanimous decision over John Paul Bentoso of Team Pacman. Lumbad faces Ryan Christian Munda of Valencia City, a TKO winner over Jamil Pamisa of Mindy’s.

Ladrada, on the other hand, slugs it out with Tomjone Mangubad of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, who trounced Falcon Cris Ocana of Mindy’s, also via a unanimous decision.

CdO fielded in 14 boxers divided into two teams with seven more seeking berths in the finals at presstime.

Also being disputed are five weight categories in the Youth Boys and two divisions in the Junior Girls.
