OB Montessori, St. Paul’s lasses keep rivals at bay

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - OB Montessori and St. Paul’s survived searing rallies by their rivals to stay on top in Girls 2 and Girls 3, respectively, even as Ateneo kept a commanding lead in Midgets 1 at the resumption of the ICTSI-JGFP Inter-School Golf Championships in various courses recently.

OB Montessori’s Sophia Blanco and Annika Cayabyab were outscored by Sophia Chabon and Bernice Ilas of La Salle Zobel in Round 3 but the OB girls managed to hang on to a one-point lead, 152-151. Chabon had a 53 and Ilas 50 for a 151 total while Blanco and Cayabyab both had 48s as all four played their first rounds for their respective teams.

St. Paul’s Pasig got a 53 from Annika Cedo and 45 from Miya Legaspi for a 98 which was enough to keep them five ahead of La Salle Zobel in the continuation of a series organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines with the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. as major sponsor. The other backers are Pancake House Group, Sizzlin’ Pepper, Yellow Cab, McDonald’s and the Philippine Golf Foundation.

Ateneo looks unbeatable in Midgets 1 now with a 36-point lead over Learning Links as Carl Corpus made 52, Adric Chan 49 and Marc Corrales 47 for 148 and a 446 aggregate.

But Learning Links (146/410) unveiled an individual contender in Yuka Saso who fired a tournament-high 54 that boosted her team Carlo Villaroman and Luis Castro finished with 46s.

Xavier was next at 133-373, DLZS 109-349, LSGH 116-337, Ateneo 3 108-317, Ateneo 2 106-315, Xavier 2 98-296.

Girls 1 action marred by no shows. DLSU’s Abby Olea carded a 38 and Keena Puzon 21 to stay afloat with their 59-217. College of St. Benilde posted 31-178 while Ateneo was at 114.
