Aussie boosts Challenge triathlon

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Multiple triathlon world champion Chris McCormack has confirmed his participation in the inaugural Challenge Philippines set Feb. 22, 2014 through tough courses in Subic and Bataan.

“Count me in. I can’t wait for Challenge Philippines, the course looks great, absolutely beautiful and I know it will be one of the best events in the 2014 race calendar,” said the top Australian triathlete.

Also known as Macca, McCormack has signed on as Challenge Family ambassador through a 10-year partnership and is excited to explore and experience the Challenge Philippines course.

McCormack is both as an ambassador for Challenge’s long distance triathlon race series and as an integral part of the Challenge Family development.

Over P2 million will be up for grabs in the event with the elite winners (male and female) taking $6,500 each. Also on tap is the Southeast Asia Elite featuring the national team members and those from Southeast Asian regions with the winners getting $1,500 (male) and $1,000 (female).

The Challenge series has grown from the Challenge Roth, which McCormack won every year from 2004 to 2007.
