PSL holds 48th leg in Laguna Sept. 28-29

MANILA, Philippines - The 48th leg of the Philippine Swimming League Series, the longest-running grassroots swimming program in the country, will be held in a 50-meter pool Sept. 28-29 at the San Luis Sports Complex in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.            

The meet will be an age group competition for 6, 7, 8 , 9, 10 age bands and age groupers from 11-12, 13-14 and 15 and over.

The first, second and third finishers will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals.    

“This monthly competition continues to produce tremendous results for our swimmers and we have produced gold medalists and record breakers in the Palarong Pambansa and UAAP,” said PSL president Susan Papa.

PSL swimmers that have excelled in the Palaro are McTracy Alindogan, Rafael Barreto and Christen Mercado. Outstanding UAAP swimmers trained by the PSL are Claire Adorna, Denjylie and Jaja Cordero, Priscila Aquino, Joy Rodgers and Maurice Sacho Ilustre.

The Sta. Cruz leg will be the basis for the selection of the team to be sent to Malaysia, Bangkok, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.

In the last international competition in Singapore last August, 17 swimmers and eight coaches were given subsidy.
