MANILA, Philippines - Armed Forces and PhilHealth seek to complete the semifinals cast as the first UNTV Cup quarterfinals unfold today at the Treston College Gym, The Fort, Taguig.

AFP and PhilHealth finished at number three and four spots and will enjoy the twice-to-beat advantage against their rivals.

Unbeaten Philippine National Police (6-0) and Judiciary (4-2) finished in the first two spots to advance outright into the semifinals and will enjoy the twice-to-beat advantage against winners in the quarterfinals.

Armed with a four-game winning streak, AFP is highly favored to win over Congress-LGU after a 110-83 rout in their elimination round meeting.

“We’re playing heads-up basketball in our last four outings and I’m confident we will be able to reach the finals,” said coach Col. Alfredo Cayco.

PhilHealth, meanwhile, will be banking on their 77-71 victory over MMDA at the close of the elimination last Sept. 15.

Alex Noriega, who exploded for 23 points and 18 boards in their last outing, will try to spearhead his team against a determined MMDA squad.
