MANILA, Philippines - Adamson held off Ateneo, 59-50, to secure the last Final Four slot and at the same time oust Far Eastern University from the UAAP Season 76 women’s basketball competition at the Smart Araneta Coliseum yesterday.
National University and De La Salle took the top two spots in the Final Four with similar 12-2 records, followed by University of Santo Tomas at third and Adamson University at fourth with identical 8-6 cards.
Joy Cochico topscored with 13 points and had eight assists for Adamson which will face NU in the semifinals Sunday.
Danica Jose had another double-double of 16 points and 18 rebounds for Ateneo, which ended its campaign with a 1-13 record – a year after making it to the Final Four.
The Lady Archers trounced the University of the East Lady Warriors, 82-58.
Inna Corcuerra had double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds while Ara Abaca added 15 markers and five boards for the Lady Archers, who enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage against the Tigresses in the semis.
The Lady Tams actually posted a 12-2 record but dropped to 7-7 after five of their wins were forfeited because their captain, Vangie Soriano, played in a commercial league during the season.
