Knights seek share of lead
MANILA, Philippines - Letran tries to re-join idle San Beda at the helm while Perpetual Help hopes to stay within striking distance at third as they take on separate rivals in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan today.
The Knights seek to erase the stigma of their 76-80 setback to giant-killer Lyceum last Sept. 5 as they shoot for their 10th win against two losses for a share of the lead with the three-peat defending champion Lions.
But they will be facing an Arellano U side that pulled off a 76-75 squeaker over Lyceum last Thursday.
“It’s always tough playing a team coming from a win like that,†said Letran coach Caloy Garcia, whose charges won over the Chiefs, 67-57, in their first meeting last July 25.
Gametime is at 4 p.m.
At 4-8, the Chiefs need to win as many games as possible to revive their hopes for a playoff for the last Final Four berth with six games left in their schedule.
The Altas likewise go for their 10th win against three losses as they collide with the skidding Jose Rizal U Bombers in the 6 p.m. main dish.
