MANILA, Philippines - The Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul Alvarez’s highly-anticipated super welterweight world championship showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Saturday, Sunday in Manila, will be aired on GMA-7 on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. after the Sunday All-Stars.
The fight, dubbed “The One: Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez†will also be broadcast live on GMA’s flagship AM station, Super Radyo dzBB 594 MHz at 10 a.m.
Mayweather is heavily fancied to beat Alvarez and keep his unbeaten record but the 23-year-old Mexican hopes to pull off a big upset and deal the flamboyant American fighter his first career setback.
“Youth is on his side,†said six-division world champion Oscar de La Hoya who mentors Alvarez.
Alvarez became a pro boxer at 15 and earned his first title at 18, winning his first world title at the age of 21. He currently holds the WBC super welterweight belt.
