Rexona Run bets to rock, roll

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Rexona Run offers a different kind of challenge in its fourth year of providing top-notch running competitions as it holds a first-ever multi-sensorial after-midnight run on Oct. 20 at the Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City.

Dubbed the Rexona Run to your Beat, the event will have participants pushed by live music to run further, culminating in a party-atmosphere finish.

“We always find ways to make the Rexona Run more exciting than the last. This year, we wanted the Rexona Run to appeal to more people and inspire them to ‘Do: More,’” said Rexona brand manager Mar Corazo.

Events on tap are the 5K, 10K and 21K with P5,000, P5,000 and P7,000 staked for winners in the three categories, respectively.

From the first gun start at 3 a.m., live performances by various bands will be held around the race route, adding a very different take on running with the 5K race to be graced by Delta Street, Sandwich, The Diegos, DJ Mia Ayesa, Deuce Manila and DJ Nina.

The 10K race will get the chance to run to Funk Avy and DJ Khai while Rico Blanco, Elmo Magalona and DJ Mars Miranda will on hand for the 21K race.

“It’s been proven that listening to music unleashes one’s energy, allowing one to run further,” said running coach Rio de la Cruz.

Registration is ongoing and will end Oct. 16 at Riovanna stores at Bonifacio Global City and Katipunan and at Toby’s outlets at SM Mall of Asia and SM North Edsa’s The Block. Online listup is also accepted on www.runrio.com. Fees are pegged at P600 (5K), P700 (10K) and P900 (21K). For details, visit the Rexona Men Facebook page or call/text (632) 887-6194, 0927-3477700 (Globe) or 0929-7178164 (Smart).
