Ateneo XI whips Xavier, bags St. Ignatius Cup

MANILA, Philippines - The Ateneo Blue team blanked Xavier B, 2-0, in the championship match to cap its unbeaten run in the fourth St. Ignatius Cup at the Ateneo de Manila U grounds recently.

The Ateneo 7-and-under booters stamped their class against strong teams such as Xavier A, Atletico Diliman FC and Hedcen before besting Xavier B to annex their second championship in the event.

The team, handled by coach Jerwin Belina, was made up of Grade 2 pupils from ADMU and had bagged a number of titles, including the 17th Alaska Cup 2012, the 10th RIFA Cup, the RIFA Cumulative and the Monfort Belina credited the success of the team to the kids’ hard work, continuous training and teamwork.

The members of the champion squad are Joaquin Collo (MVP), Migo Azupardo, Rafael Garcia V, Pio Unlay, Enrique Pastor, Kewell Doque, Jose Tibig, Simon Del Valle, Lester Esturas, Song Min Kim, Rocco Liamzon, Niko Macasael, Chico Punongbayan, CJ Tiambeng, Daniell Tabares, TJ Tabares, Iñaki Torres and Xiam Tumang.
