The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The National Collegiate Basketball League kicks off its second season on Saturday with Technological Institute of the Philippines clashing with newcomer Polytechnic University of the Philippines at TIP-Manila.

With defending champion Centro Escolar University opting to take a leave of absence, a wide open battle for top honors is expected with Don Bosco Technical School in Mandaluyong and Trinity University of Asia also in the fold, according to Totie Andes, national director of the organizing Athletes-In-Action (AIA), an international sports group that aims to promote proper values among athletes and coaches.

“The AIA, which started way back in 1967, is going beyond just playing the game, we want people to grow in faith while sharing the gospel with others, we are a God-fearing league and our concern is promoting the proper values for our players.”
