Bayron joint seventh after 67

MANILA, Philippines - Rufino Bayron shot a four-under 67 to move from 19th to joint seventh, five strokes behind Aussie Darren Tan and Malaysian Airil Rizman halfway through PGM Terengganu Masters of the Asian Development Tour in Malaysia yesterday.

Bayron, chasing a breakthrough win in four years, hit five birdies against a bogey to put himself back into contention after a mediocre 70 for a 36-hole total of 137.

Tan and Rizman, who tied for the lead with 65s Wednesday, matched 67s again and continued to lead the field with 132, three ahead of Japan’s Mitsuhiko Hashizume, who turned in the day’s best of 66 for a 135.

Jhonnel Ababa also rallied with a 68 after a 71 as he improved to joint 14th from a share of 30th at 139 in a tie with fellow Filipino bets Mhark Fernando and Carl Santos-Ocampo, who shot 67 and 69, respectively.
