Milo Checkmate series resumes

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The final evaluation for the fourth series of Milo-sponsored Checkmate year-round chess clinics will be held tomorrow starting at 8 a.m. at San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila.

The enrollees, composed of those attending the Saturday-only training sessions, will be treated to various fun games like problem solving contest, tournament by levels and age-groups.

At stake are medals and trophies courtesy of the sponsoring Milo. Additional prizes like magnetic sets and chessboards will be provided by the organizing Metropolitan Chess Club.

The one-day event, part of the Checkmate year-round program, aims to monitor the performance of the enrollees after a series of chess lessons in seven consecutive Saturdays.

Among the participants are those who have attended their sessions at San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila; Kinderville Learning Center in Retiro, Quezon City; Sacred Heart Academy of Novaliches in Fairview, Quezon City; Capitol Hills Christian School in Batasan Hills, Filinvest 2 Road, Quezon City; Walter Mart Sucat in Parañaque City; Starmall Las Piñas in Pamplona 2, Las Piñas City; Starmall Edsa-Shaw in Mandaluyong and at McDonalds Branch in Victory Center Mall in Caloocan City.

The next series will start Aug. 31 at the same eight venues with two more sites to be put up at Immaculate Mary Montessori School in Las Piñas and Christ Life Academy at Camella Homes, Sorrento Avenue in Bacoor.
