MANILA, Philippines - CJ Tsui of Formula-E Racing flashed top form in the rains, sweeping the last two races to capture the Enchanted Kingdom leg of the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the EK Kart Track in Sta. Rosa, Laguna recently.
The victory was first in the season for the 17-year-old Tsui, seeking to contend for the coveted Karter of the Year award after making it to the top three last year.
With 240 points, Tsui moved up to third behind front-running Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier and Sacha Feliciano, who tallied 286 and 252 points, respectively.
He posted the fastest time of 32.323 seconds in the qualifying time trials and seized control in the qualifying heat but Miranda rallied to win the first race.
But Tsui struck back in heavy rains in the afternoon races, winning the pre-final and final races to clinch the premier ROK senior crown in the event sponsored by Coca-Cola Philippines and Yokohama, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
He wrapped up the abbreviated 21-lap race in 13 minutes, 33.240 seconds, 2.298 seconds ahead of Miranda before clerk-of-course Gabby Intengan called off the race as heavy rains rendered the track unsafe.
