MANILA, Philippines – The season gets tougher for Far Eastern U Tamaraws as former MVP RR Garcia was slapped with a one-game suspension after incurring two unsportsmanlike fouls.
Garcia, who is averaging 13.9 points on top of 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.2 steals, was suspended Tuesday after elbowing Jarelan Tampus in frustration during the Tamaraws’ loss to La Salle, 66-75, last Sunday.
It was the second unsportsmanlike foul incurred by Garcia, who earlier picked up his first during the season opener for throwing the ball on UE’s Lord Casajeros.
With Garcia not around, odds are stacked against the Tamaraws to stop their alarming two-game skid when they face UE on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Tamaraws still hold the top spot with a 7-2 win-loss record after sweeping the first round.
