Gomez tows leaders

MANILA, Philippines - GM John Paul Gomez scored back-to-back victories over Sumant Subramaniam and FM Ronnie Lim of Malaysia to lead the early leaders in the Dato Arthur Tan International Open Chess Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia recently.

Five other Filipinos swept their first two games, including IM Oliver Dimakiling, Roderick Nava, Randy Segarra, Ali Branzuela and Roel Abelgas,.

They joined top seed GMs Ma Qun, Zhou Jianchao, Wang Rui, Xiu Deshun of China, GMs  Abhijeet Gupta, Laxman R.R. and Suri Vaibhav, Pradeep Kumar R.A. and Andria L D`souza of India, IM Max Illingworth of Australia and  IM Nguyen Duc Hoa of Vietnam in the lead.
