Angeles leads cast in M-Benz Asian Final
MANILA, Philippines - Team CATS Motors, with realtor Manny Angeles on the lead, flies to Australia on Monday to participate in the MercedesTrophy Asian Final with the high hopes of producing another winning performance.
Last year, businessman Lee Latayan topscored for the Philippine contingent in the Asian Final in Australia then went on to help the Southeast Asian Team to victory in the World Final in Germany.
This time, Angeles, former Finance Secretary Roberto de Ocampo, Lawrence Cobankiat, John Casey, Louie Banson and Michael Angelo Antonio will have the opportunity to duplicate Latayan’s feat.
The seven-man squad, which will be led by CATS Motors PR director Emy Arcilla as country captain, qualified for the Asian Final after they topped the National Final held at Sta. Elena Golf Club last May.
The MercedesTrophy Asian Final, set Aug. 14-16, is an annual regional Mercedes-Benz customer golfing tournament, leading up to the World Final slay slated in Stuttgart, Germany Sept. 27-30.
They’ll be battling players from eight other Asian nations at The Pines and The Palms courses of the Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club, which is hosting the MercedesTrophy for the first time.
“The team is going to Australia full of confidence and very eager to show their skills on the course,†said CATS Motors president Felix Ang.
