MANILA, Philippines - Iran continued to assert its dominance with another masterful performance, pummeling a hapless India squad, 102-58, in the 27th FIBA Asia Championships at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City Monday.
Hamed Afagh led five Iran players in double figures with 16 markers. The powerhouse team drained 14 triples, its best performance at the 3-point area in the tournament so far.
Iran thus notched its fourth win in as many games and improved its record in the second round to 3-0, while India remains winless at 0-3.
Another looming rout is in the offing for the Asian powerhouse as they take on a CJ Giles-less Bahrain squad at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. Giles, Bahrain’s naturalized player, suffered an ACL injury in the first round.
India, meanwhile, will face China at 5:45 p.m.
