China routs Malaysia, 113-22

MANILA, Philippines -- After a disappointing loss in their opening match yesterday, China bounced back with a vengeance trashing Malaysia 113-22 in the preliminary round of the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship at the MOA Arena in Pasay city Friday.

The two Wangs of China led the way, Zhelin and Zhizhi scored 21 and 17 points rescpectively while Zhu Fangyu and Guo Ailun added 16 points each.

China rested their premier bigman Yi Jianlian who is nursing a hamstring and groing injury in prepration for their mammoth matchup tomorrow against another Asian powerhouse, Iran.

The 15-time gold medalist hardly needed their former NBA players as they cruised to a flawless victory against the hapless and grieving Malaysian squad who lost a player a week before the start of the tournament.

The defending champion China suffered a sorry 59-63 loss Thursday, dealt by their long-time East Asian rival South Korea.
