Archers trip Generals, wrest Martin Cup lead

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle routed Emilio Aguinaldo College, 81-57, while Perpetual Help stunned fancied San Beda, 69-68, in the 11th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament at San Beda gym in Mendiola recently.

The Archers drew double-digit scores from Benoit Mbala, Alexander Torres, John Boo and Abu Tratter as they dominated the Generals from start to finish to annex their third straight win.

Mbala finished with 17 points while Torres, Boo and Tratter tossed in 16, 14 and 10 markers, respectively, for the Green Archers, who showed the way in seniors Group B.

Melvin Rodriguez drove for the basket in the last 8.9 seconds as the Altas nipped the Red Lions, also in Group B action.

In the other seniors game, the Enderun Titans bounced back from a 58-67 loss to the Red Lions with a 71-57 romp over the Angeles University Foundation side.

The San Sebastian Staglets held off the Letran Squires, 77-73, in junior play while John Paul Susemerano scored in the last 7.7 seconds as St. Jude defeated Joseph Joseph, 64-61.
