Stags, Knights, Cubs pull thru in Martin Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Last year’s finalist San Sebastian Stags, the Letran Knights and the San Beda Red Cubs came off with closely fought wins Sunday in the 11th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup basketball tournament.

Ivan Camasura  had 18 points, including two free throws in the last 4.9 seconds, to propel the Stags to a 56-54 win over Diliman Preparatory School at the St. Placid gymnasium of the San Beda College-Mendiola campus.

Andrei Pantin delivered 16 points for the Letran Knights, who weathered a late rally by the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 64-61.

Sam Abulijeh poured in 12 points, while Albert Bordeos hit 11 for the Red Cubs who turned back the Xavier School Stallions, 62-57, in the junior division.

With their first win in two games, the Stags moved behind the Ateneo Blue Eagles, who  earlier trounced the Trinity University of Asia Stallions, 74-49, in Group A.
