Anton wins third straight Circuit Showdown title

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Castrol-Yokohama champion driver Carlos Anton reasserted his supremacy, leaving spectators in wonder as he clocked a faster laptime to emerge champion for the third time in Round 5 of the Circuit Showdown Series recently at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Anton, the reigning six-time Philippine Hill Climb champion backed by Petrol Apparel, reset his aspirated lap record at the long track aboard his Mark Young-Hornitex prepared CRX on Advan rubber to one minute, 44.950 seconds, one second faster than his previous record.

“It was a perfect race day. We were quick all day and the good weather conditions helped the lap times drop. We improved our record by over a whole second,” Anton said after bagging the “fastest time of the day” for the third time in as many races he joined this year.

Anton is now focusing on the coming races in August and September which he feels will all be wet weather events. “I’m a Baguio native and I hope this comes in handy when I have to race in very wet weather in the coming months.”
