Tabuena 6 shots off in KL

MANILA, Philippines - Miguel Tabuena shot a second straight 71 and fell six strokes behind former Philippine Open champion Berry Henson of the US halfway through the Templer Park Masters of the Asian Development Tour in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday.

Tabuena strung up a pair of back-to-back birdies from Nos. 3 and 12 to negate his three bogeys, including on the tough par-4 18th, which he double-bogeyed in the opening round of the four-day championship at the Templer Park Country Club course.

He had a 142 for joint eighth with Michael Moore (74) and David Lutterus (70) of Australia, M. Sasidaran (71) of Malaysia and Japan’s Mitsuhiko Hashizume (69).

Mars Pucay matched par 72 to safely make it to the final 36 holes of the event serving as the sixth leg of the 12-stage ADT, a farm circuit of the Asian Tour.

Henson, who beat Jay Bayron for the Philippine Open crown at Wack Wack, carded a 70 for a 136 and a one-shot lead over Malaysian Nicholas Fung, who also made a 70 for a 137.

American James Bowen also turned in a 70 for joint third with Michael Tran of Vietnam, who had a 71, at 139.
