Enriquez upsets Paeng in World Cup elims

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Veteran Jong Enriquez rolled 2755 pinfalls in 12 games to outshine six-time world champion Paeng Nepomuceno and last year’s national World Cup titlist Krizziah Tabora and lead the first batch of finalists in the 2013 Bowling World Cup held recently in 13 centers.

Nepomuceno, the only winner of four World Cup titles so far, carded 2413 but was edged out by Sammy Say Sy (2455) in the men’s competition.

Annie Gan and little-known Mades Arles recorded the top two 10-game totals of 1972 and 1960, respectively, in the ladies’ division.

Tabora, who finished 14th in last year’s international finals where she represented the Philippines with RJ Bautista, scored only 1730.
