Anton stays fast, furious in Circuit Showdown
MANILA, Philippines - Carlos Anton of Castrol-Yokohama proved his worth anew as he ruled the fourth round of the Circuit Showdown, besting a big field of 80 racers at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga recently
Anton actually pulled off the feat despite using a Mark Young-Petrol Apparel Nissan GTR35 700 horsepower machine after his CRX broke down during practice runs.
He clocked a blistering 2-minute, 6.282-second run around the 4km track to post the fastest time of the day and win the Class A time attack plum.
The feat firmed up Anton’s record as the fastest Circuit Showdown driver through the backing of Castrol, Yokohama, Petrol Apparel, Hornitex Flooring, Cars Unlimited, Special Stage and Auto Shack.
“It was great to be back on track and back to what we do best which is winning. Hitting over 260kms down the main straight of Clark is mind blowing,†said Anton.
The six-time Philippine Hillclimb champion has now won 13 of the 16 rounds he competed in the Circuit Showdown since joining the series in 2010.
