Feng 3 shots up; Jenny 11 down with 75
China’s Shanshan Feng fired a four-under 67 and took a three-stroke lead over Japanese Haeji Kang in the second round of the $1.5 million ShopRite LPGA Classic at the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in New Jersey Saturday.Feng opened with back-to-back birdies from No. 2, dropped a stroke on the seventh but rattled off four straight birdies from No. 14 to surge ahead.
She could’ve pulled away from the field but dropped a stroke on the par-5 18th for that 67 and a 136. Kang carded a two-under 69 and stood at 139 in a tie with first day leader Moriy Jutanugard of Thailand who struggled with a 73.
Jennifer Rosales limped home with four bogeys in the last nine holes and ended up with a four-over 75 and remained at joint 49th with a 147, 11 strokes off Feng.
The two-time LPGA winner, who made a one-over 72 in the first round, fought to an even 37 card at the turn, mixing three birdies to negate her bogeys mishaps n Nos. 2, 5 and 7. But she lost her touch at the back, bogeying No. 11 and dropped three strokes in a row from No. 14.
