SMBeermen seek repeat vs Slammers

Game today (Nimibutr Stadium, Thailand)

8 p.m. (Manila time) – Sports Rev Thailand vs San Miguel Beermen

(Semifinal series tied, 1-1)

MANILA, Philippines - Back in their old fiery selves, the San Miguel Beermen gun for a second straight win and a pivotal 2-1 lead against Sports Rev Thailand Slammers tonight in Game Three of their best-of-five semifinal showdown in the Asean Basketball League at Nimibutr Stadium in Thailand.

A vengeful Beermen trampled the Slammers in Saturday’s Game Two at PhilSports Arena, 91-60, to level the series after getting ambushed by their rivals in the series opener at Ynares Center in Antipolo, 62-60.

The 31-point “statement win” notwithstanding, the Beermen know all too well it’s not productive riding too high on that rout. They paid for that when they came off a 16-game streak and got surprised by a determined Slammers side.

“Convincing demolition job (in Game Two). That’s the way to restore some order. But we can’t get too high with this win. Job ain’t finished yet,” said San Miguel Corp. sports director Noli Eala.
