Zoleta boosts stock with 7 wins in two months

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Amanda Gabrielle “Gaby” Zoleta enhanced her promising tennis career by racking up seven wins in the last two months with the Lucena City find aiming for more victories in her next age-group tournaments, including the Olivarez Cup, the Milo national finals and the PCA Open.

The 10-year-old Zoleta kicked off her impressive summer campaign by winning the 10-Unisex crown in the Lucena City National age-group tournament last April 10-14 then added the Cebuana Lhuillier 10-U title in Parañaque the following week.

She also swept the 10-U and 12-U plums in the Milo Clark Angeles age-group in Pampanga then annexed another 10-U diadem in Cebuana Lhuillier leg in San Pablo City last May 6-12.

Along the way, the Bristol Integrated School student also pocketed two 10-U doubles crowns in San Pablo City and in the first Philta Boy Leonora Cup at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center recently.

Zoleta, who loves to attack the net, also turned in four runner-up finishes, including in the Dunlop-Pinoy Islands age-group tilt in Cavite and the Cebuana Lhuillier legs in Parañaque and San Pablo City – all in the girls’ 12-U class, and the 10-U division in the first Philta Boy Leonora Cup.

With the Philippine Tennis Association and the sports’ long line of backers providing a year-round, nationwide age-group tournaments for the country’s current and future stars, Zoleta hopes to pile up more victories and gain experience and possibly a spot in future national pool.
