The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Ace driver and Philippine Touring Car Championship (PTCC) champion William Tan  is representing the country in the Scirocco Cup set May 25-26 at the Shanghai International F1 Circuit in China.

It’s the first international stint for Tan, who signed up with the Tuason Racing School Race Career Management Program (TRS-RCMP) to boost his chances against top foreign rivals from Italy, Germany,  China, Macau and Hongkong.

He is supported by TRS partners BMW, Bridgestone, Standard Insurance, Coke Zero, PUMA, OMP, C!Magazine, Aguila Auto Glass, Acer,  Oakley,Toptul,  Bellevue, Karate Kid, Brembo and Go Pro.

Tan will be the lone Filipino representative in the 24-car grid.

“I’m not promising anything but I’ll do everything for the national flag.  TRS-RCMP opened my eyes to other vital techniques that will surely help me in this endeavor and hopefully this race will open more doors for an international racing career,” said Tan.

Tan, a businessman by profession, was just the perfect choice, being the 2012 Driver of the Year in the recent Annual Awards Night of the Automobile Association of the Philippines.
