Sherwood hosts Suntrust Inivitational

MANILA, Philippines - Sherwood Hills Golf Club, the new home of major amateur events of the National Golf Association of the Philippines, is set to host 60 three-man teams in the third Suntrust Cup Invitational May 25 in Trece Martires, Cavite.

Club president Harrison Paltongan is expected to participate together with the event’s sponsors and specials guests, who will be vying for a brand-new 2-seater golf cart staked as one of the hole-in-one prizes.

The teams, which will play the par-72 Jack Nicklaus signature course, will be divided into two groups depending on the three members’ handicaps and will play to the scramble format.

Beneficial Life Insurance, Trinity Insurance, Compact Graphics, FireAnt Advertising, Davies Paints and James Hardie are the lead partners with Alcon Advertising as an event partner of the one-day tournament.

Also under the format, the three members will each be assigned holes where they tee off. On the second shot, other members may place their balls to within one scorecard-length not nearer the hole.

On all par-3s where there are hole-in-one prizes, all members of the team may hit for a chance for an ace. But the ball of the designated hitter off the tees will be used for the scramble.
