MANILA, Philippines - Unranked Kyle Parpan carved out a shock 6-4, 6-3 victory over second seed Betto Orendain to barge into the semifinal round of the boys’ 18-and-under class while fancied Roxanne Resma and Khim Iglupas breezed through in the ladies side of the First Gen-Juntaphil Metro Age Group Tennis Championships at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center yesterday.

Parpan broke Orendain once in the opening set then kept pounding his rival in the second to complete a straight-set romp. He booked a Final Four duel with Bryan Otico, who also booted out No. 4 Marcen Gonzales, 6-1, 6-4, in the Last 16 before easing out No. 7 Vernon Huibonhua, 6-3, 6-3, in the quarters.
