Karters rev up for southern series at BRC

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s fastest drivers hope to push their powerful machines to the limits as they seek crucial victories that would boost their title chances in the third and penultimate leg of the 2013 Petronas Philippine Drag Racing Championship Southern Series May 11 at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Young sensation Arvin Jay Millet of TEMZ, tagged as the biggest hope of local drag racing, hopes to whip up storm anew in the premier M&H Pro class against the veterans.

A third straight M&H Pro triumph may virtually seal the Overall Southern Series plum for Millet and fortify his quest for a first overall drag racing national diadem against defending champion Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing.

Tiu is also seeking his third Quick 8 win in the Southern Series, which hopefully would also fortify his chances for an eighth national crown.

But between the two, Millet is one step closer to the crown if he wins since the M&H Pro class holds a bigger weight in the tabulation for the Southern Series crown as well as the prestigious Drag Racing Driver of the Year compared to the Quick 8 class that accounts for a small percentage for the plum.

This means Tiu has to exert extra effort to foil Millet’s title pursuit with some help from his JCT-Blanche Racing teammates.

The  event is  sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by Petronas, Yokohama, GT Radials, M&H Tires and media partners Racing Beat at Wave 89.1 and Inside Motoring @DZRJ 810khz.
