Miranda eyes third straight win, top finish in kart series

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Daniel Miranda of the Cebuana Lhuillier Racing Team will be eyeing a third straight win in Round 3 of the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series and a Top 5 finish in the Philippine round of the 2013 Asian Karting Open Championship (AKOC) on May 18 and 19 at the Carmona Racetrack.

The country’s hottest young karter, who recently notched his second straight triumph in the second leg of the super series at the Batangas Racing Circuit, is now the country’s best hopes for a podium finish in the Asian tournament.

And Miranda is up to the task.

“My aim is to be in the Top 5 of the AKOC, but if the opportunity to go for the win presents itself, then I’ll go for it,” said the good-looking Australian International School-Taguig  third year high school student, who idolizes F1 racing legend Ayrton Senna.

The 15-year-old Miranda is coming off a sweep of the national karting series’ second leg, winning the qualifying, pre-final and final races that captured for him both the ROK senior and ROK overall crowns of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines. His second straight sweep in the series quickly installed his name alongside the circuit’s top guns.

“I felt good and I’m happy for what I’ve done. My plan is to just prepare for my next races and just drive how I drove in my last two races,” said the up-and-coming karter.
