V-League: Adamson fashions out quarterfinal win over San Sebastian

MANILA, Philippines – Guest player Angela Benting starred as Adamson turned back a pesky San Sebastian side, 25-21, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-20, in the quarterfinal round of the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 First Conference at the Fil-Oil Flying V Arena in San Juan today.

Benting spearheaded the Lady Falcons’ attack with 21 points, including 15 kills, while Sheila Pineda and Pau Soriano contributed 19 and 16 points, respectively.

Benting scored the winning point when Adamson went to her in their last three plays, resulting in a furious rally which he punctuated with a thunderous kill.

“I just told my team to focus and don’t be intimidated against (Jeng) Bualee and (Suzanne) Roces. As long as we rely on our teamwork, we can win,” said ADU Coach Sherwin Meneses.

Adamson is only one win away from securing a semifinal slot, getting a chance on Sunday against University of Santo Tomas.

“It will be a good fight on Sunday and we will prepare hard for UST so hopefully we can win and enter the semis,” said Meneses.

Guest player Bualee led the Stags with 25 points, including 23 hits, while Gretchel Saltones and Suzanne Roces added 15 and 12 points, respectively, for the Recoletos-based squad.

ADU now holds a 2-0 record in the quarterfinal round robin while SSC dropped to 0-2.
