MANILA, Philippines -- Stallion-Sta. Lucia remained perched on top of the United Football League table after notching its 10th win, dominating PSG via 5-1 scoreline on Thursday night at the Emperador Stadium in McKinley Hill.
Rufo Sanchez returned to its fiery form scoring a brace to pace the UFL Cup champions. The Spanish striker found the back of the net in the 35th and 83rd minute after a scoreless performance in Stallion's close 4-3 win over the Green Archers United in their previous match.
It was Korean import Lee Won Hyung, who opened fire in the 27th minute which Sanchez doubled eight minutes later.
PSG pulled one goal back courtesy of Emil Muncada to threaten before the break. But it proved to be PSG's final stand as the Stallions three more in a 10-minute flurry late in the second half.
Another Korean import started the Stallions' big windup when Kim Hyo booked one in the 73rd minute before Nathaniel Alquiros added one more six minutes later.
Sanchez sealed the win with his 11th goal of the tournament, the second-best behind Phil Younghusband's 12.
Stallion improved to 10-1-0 for 30 points, creating a two-point separation behind Global, which routed Nomads, 4-0, later in the night. (read related story here: http://www.philstar.com/sports/2013/04/26/935194/turkish-sensation-leads-global-domination-nomads)
