The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Sofia Chabon finally hit her stride and fired a five-under 67 to tie Harmie Constantino in the girls’ Class C lead while Rupert Zaragosa and Aidric Chan surged ahead in their respective divisions in the third round of the Pancake House Junior World golf qualifying tournament at the Manila Southwoods Legends course in Carmona, Cavite.

Chabon sizzled with a frontside 32 as the ICTSI team member rallied from four strokes down after 36 holes to catch Constantino, shooting a 71, at the helm at 212 heading to the final round of the four-day tournament.

Zaragosa shot a 70 as the former world champion surged ahead in boys Class A with a 218, three strokes ahead of Raymart Tolentino, who had a 221 after a 73.

Erstwhile leader Gabriel Manotoc wavered with a 77 and slid to third at 224.

Chan, on the other hand, carded a 71 for a 223 and a one-shot lead over Ira Alido, who turned in a 75 while M. Corrales also made a 75 but stood way behind at 241 in the event staged to determine the country’s bets to the annual Junior World meet in San Diego, California in July.

Pauline del Rosario, another ICTSI bet, pulled away in girls’ Class B with a 71 and a 216 for a whopping 12-shot lead over Lois Go, who had a 228 after a 74. Annika Cedo made a 75 for a 230 while Abby Arevalo skied to an 82 for a 233.
