MANILA, Philippines - Korean Lee Jeong Woo came through with a hat-trick as Team Socceroo blasted Agila FC, 4-1, to firm up its hold of the top spot in the Second Division of the United Football League at the McKinley Hill grounds in Taguig City.
Lee’s triple came on the 56th, 59th and the second minute of injury time that stretched the Socceroo booters’s win streak to eighth while pulling away from the field with 24 match points, seven points clear of Union Internacional Manila, which had 17.
Another Korean, Jeon Shin Seok, scored on the 27th to give Socceroo the early lead at the half.
Lee then knocked in a pair of goals in a three-minute span starting on the 56th before Philip Zemen blasted in Agila FC’s lone goal on the 65th.
Lee finished off Agila, which got stranded at No. 3 with 15 points on five triumphs against three defeats, with that 92nd minute goal.
Eisi Sugasaki unloaded a late goal as Manila All-Japan escaped with a 2-2 standoff against Laos FC.
Sugasaki delivered the match-tying goal on the 86th after Al Ervin Pattunag scored on the 56th that made it 2-1 for Laos FC.
Laos remained at No. 4 with 14 points on four wins and two draws against two losses, one point ahead of Forza FC, which fell to Dolphins United FC, 1-3,
Meanwhile, First Division action resumes today with Loyola Meralco Sparks tangling with Army FC at 5:15 p.m. and Global FC battling PSG FC at 7:30 p.m. also at the McKinley Hill grounds.
