Jr NBA regional camps to choose 50 best for NTC

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The 2013 Jr. NBA Philippines concludes its regional camps nationwide, placing the select group of players closer to coveted Jr. NBA team and NBA experience.

The Jr. NBA is the NBA’s international youth development program that promotes basketball participation, sportsmanship and teamwork, and an active lifestyle among children. Highlight of the most prestigious clinic is the selection of the 10 best campers who will form the 2013 Jr. NBA Philippine All-Star Team, presented by Alaska.

In Manila, the 2013 Jr. NBA Philippines Regional Selection Camp will finish off at Aquinas School, San Juan on April 13-14. The selection camp will test the players’ talents and knowledge about the sport after having completed the Jr. NBA school clinic that prepared them for the real hardcourt.

From the regional selection camps, the top 50 selected participants will be invited to the National Training Camp April 26-27. They are chosen from more than 1,000 participants who attended the regional selection camps in Lucena, Dagupan, Davao, and the NCR, as well as the Alaska Power Camps.

Attending the NTC is NBA Legend Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues. Known as the shortest player ever to play in the NBA yet one of the best passers, ball-stealers, and fastest on the court, Bogues will be in Manila to help coach the participants who are vying for a spot in the Jr. NBA All-Star Team. He will also conduct NBA Cares activities in Metro Manila.

The 2013 Jr. NBA Philippines presented by Alaska is sponsored by Master Facial Wash and Rexona.
