NU cagebelles off for China training
MANILA, Philippines - The National University’s women’s basketball team is leaving for Xiamen, China tomorrow as part of its training and buildup for the coming UAAP season.
Backed by SM Food Group of Herbert Sy and Ever Bilena Cosmetics Inc. of Dioceldo Sy, the Lady Bulldogs will play a series of games against Xiamen’s top collegiate teams from April 8-13.
“We are excited to train in China because we’re going to face some members of China’s national team,†said coach Pat Aquino. “I’m sure the girls will learn a lot from this training.â€
Leading the delegation are team managers Mike Tan of NU and Johnson Martines and Silliman Sy of Ever Bilena. Aquino will be assisted by Paul Du and DA Olan.
The Lady Bulldogs are going all-out to make it to the Final Four this time after finishing only fifth last season.
Members of the team are Shelley Gupilan, Lalai Bonleon, April Bernardino, Sam Paig, Kristine Abriam, Andrea Tongco, Janeth Sison, CJ Seno, Camilla Escoto, Thea Cenarosa, Jessica Maghibon, Trixie Antiquera, Gladys Ross and Tikay Edimo.
