V-League camp slated at Ateneo
MANILA, Philippines - The Shakey’s V-League holds an outreach volleyball camp next week as part of its advocacy program to support and further develop the sport and at the same time re-introduce it to the Filipino youth aspiring to become future stars.
Two sessions are on tap on the March 23 camp at the Blue Eagle gym at the Ateneo de Manila University in QC with Ateneo coach Roger Gorayeb as camp director and a slew of V-League stars as trainers.
The camp, also serving as a prelude to the league’s grand Season 10 opening next month, is open to girls 6-18 years old. The free listup starts at 8 a.m. with priority to be given to public school students. All participants must present their IDs and wear white T-shirts, playing shorts and rubber shoes.
The camp will have a maximum of 32 participants per session with the first set from 9 a.m.-12 noon and the other from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to give participants proper and effective one-on-one training.
The basic skills training includes digging, setting, spiking and serving to be capped by a mini-game among participants.?The sessions will also offer training similar to what volleyball players do, such as teaching the proper body form, correct arm and hand movement and other preparatory exercises. Making up the roster of trainers are Nene Bautista, Rhea Dimaculangan, Angela Benting, Fille Cainglet, Rachel Ann Daquis, Jheck Dionela, Jem Ferrer, Cherry Macatangay, Sue Roces, Pau Soriano and Alyssa Valdez.
