Fancied Bryans halt Huey-Janowicz run

Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Fil-Am Treat Huey and Polish Jerzy Janowicz failed to cap their amazing run in the BNP Paribas Open doubles tournament, absorbing a 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 setback to the fancied pair of Bob and Mike Bryan in Indian Wells yesterday.

Huey and Janowicz bounced back from a sluggish first-set stint with a victory in the second frame only to sputter in the face of the Bryan brothers’ power game in the decider.

Still, making it to the finals and forcing the Bryan brothers, the world’s top ranked doubles players, into a decider spoke well of the Huey-Janowicz partnership. The two are expected to gain ranking points and improve their current posts at 36th and 24th, respectively.

The Bryans, who had 13 Grand Slam victories with an Olympic medal to boot, picked up their 70th doubles title.
