Young Lachica new toast of karting super series

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - One Racing protégé Jose Luigi Lachica showed nerves of steel in the grueling close battle in the final race to emerge the Formula Cadet Expert champion recently in the kickoff of the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack.

The nine-year-old Lachica, an incoming Grade 5 student of Colegio San Agustin-Makati, displayed better racing maturity as he kept his poise to prevail in the neck-and-neck showdown to the finish line against big pressures from reigning Mini-ROK titlist Flynn Jackes.

Capturing last year’s Overall Formula Cadet Novice crown that earned his ticket as one of the top awardees in Saturday’s 10th Golden Wheel Awards Night, the victory promises strong chances for another career milestone feat for Lachica under the guidance of One Racing Team powered by MyPhone, Tony Kart, AIM Racing Gauges, ORG Racing Gear, Sparco, HJC Auto Helmets and the Active Group.

He was the fastest in the talented grid, being the lone karter to breach the 52-second mark with  the fastest laptime of 51.874.
