Hagedorn guest in Golden Wheel Awards

MANILA, Philippines - Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn will be the special guest when the 10th Golden Wheel Awards Night fetes the top achievers of Philippine Motorsports tonight at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

A known environmentalist, Hagedorn will keynote the affair starting at 7 p.m. together with Underbone Scooters Racing Association (USRA) vice president Jake Swann, Superbike Racing Association president John Defensor and AAP Motorsports Development general manager Mark Desales.

The Club Mwah Follies will lead the big production numbers in the program, which will pay tribute to Bienvenido Manalo as the 2013 Golden Wheel Hall of Fame awardee and the champions of various racing disciplines – Vencer John Suba (karting), Alex Perez (drifting), Peewee Mendiola (slalom), Vincent Floirendo (grand touring), Red Diwa (4x4 offroad), Jonathan Tiu (drag racing), Rodney Caballero (classic cars), Glenn Aguilar (motocross), Raniel Resuello (superbikes) Anthony Roman (underbone racing), Miko Montano (scooters) and two Indonesians Dharma Mangkuluhur (Asian karting junior champion) and Senna Sulaiman Noor (Asian karting senior champion).

From among these nominees who will each receive a Golden Wheel trophy, one will be named the 10th Golden Wheel National Driver of the Year.

The Golden Wheels Foundation will also hand out media awards to Bong Castro (print media), Edwin Go (broadcast media for radio) and Sports Pilipinas (broadcast media for TV) while citations will be presented to sponsors and benefactors of the season.

Club awards will also be granted to club champions in scooters, underbone, superbikes, grand touring, drag racing, PhilMiniRacers, VW Kafer Cup, circuit showdown, Inside Racing, off-road racing, motocross and karting.
