‘Fat Run’ focuses on healthy, better lifestyle

MANILA, Philippines - The Fat Run 2013 kicks off a two-stage program geared towards a healthier and better community next month culminating in the Taba Congress at the World Trade Center at Roxas Blvd., Pasay City.

The running event will be held April 14 while the highlight Taba Congress set July 26-28 at the WTC. 

There will be five physical challenges: speed ropes, balance beam and crawling, jump box, push up, and a wall to be climbed over to finish set over an approximately 45-1-hour course. These challenges will combine fitness and play.

Aimed at becoming “the ultimate venue for the exchange of knowledge and information on the latest trends and technology focusing on weight loss and healthy lifestyle for the betterment of the Filipino society,” the dual-events is also held to create “an avenue to impact health consciousness of people, by meeting of minds, and services in an event that will encourage assembly of different types of individuals with one common interest, namely –“weight loss.”

Spearheading the program is Dr. Claudine Roura, president of one of the country’s pioneering efforts and specialization in producing that “perfect work of art” known as the human contour.     

The main beneficiary of the event is Child Haus, a temporary shelter for indigent patients from different provinces who have cancer or other diseases, and have no place to stay in Metro Manila while undergoing medical evaluation or treatment. It provides free room and board to its residents.

The Child Haus is run along the principles of hospice care and promotes the concept of holistic care healing, through its various programs, services and activities.

“With the support of the Department of Health (DoH), we formed a formidable team that will make the congress a big success. With the combination of brilliant minds and professionalism, this one of a kind event will place its mark as a forerunner in the health and wellness industry, being identified as “The Event of the Year,” said Roura.
