CEU post 3 wins in NCBL Cup
MANILA, Philippines - Centro Escolar University repulsed Technological Institute of the Philippines, 78-71, to complete a three-game sweep of the NCBL Founders’ Cup eliminations at the CEU gym last Friday.
Alvin Abundo scored 17 points and hauled down 14 rebounds, Mark Parale added 15 markers while Lester dela Cruz hit three free throws in the closing seconds to help seal the victory for CEU.
Abundo also canned in three crucial charities as the Scorpions held off the Engineers, who threatened last at 71-76.
CEU also shut down TIP center Carlo Gomez to tournament-lows of five points and three rebounds.
Benedict Adamos led the Engineers with 16 points, four rebounds, four steals and four blocks, while Terence Tumalip and Francis Sean Paolo added 11 markers apiece.
TIP finished the short elims with a 2-1 record in the event backed by Spalding, Physio Asia Therapy Center and Athletes in Action.
In the other game, Nicol Bolos shot 22 points while Joshua Saret had 10 markers as Trinity University of Asia downed Don Bosco Technological College, 74-67, for its first win in three games.
