MANILA, Philippines - San Beda capped another dominating campaign in the 88th NCAA and annexed a third straight general championship in the seniors division while San Sebastian completed a four peat in the juniors section with a close win over Letran.
The Lions ruled football for the third straight year to all but seal the Mendiola-based athletes’ third championship with a total of 538 points, 32 points ahead of St. Benilde Blazers, who finished with 506 points.
“It’s a proud accomplishment of the school and a tribute to San Beda’s sports program,†said San Beda board representative Jose Mari Lacson. “Of course, the team wouldn’t have done it without the support of the school, all our patrons and supporters who were there from the start.â€
San Beda’s other victories came in basketball where it swept Letran for a league-best 17 cage championship, men’s and women’s swimming and men’s table tennis where it garnered 50 points each.
The Blazers, for their part, relied on wins in men’s and women’s taekwondo and soft tennis while finishing runners up in chess, men’s and women’s swimming and women’s table tennis.
