Ex-Kaya coach Rozen explains resignation in open letter

Alder Almo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -- Maor Rozen, who resigned over the weekend as head coach of Kaya FC, explained his side in an open letter to the media dated yesterday.

The Uruguayan-Spanish football coach cited his failure to squeeze out the best from his players as the main reason of his resignation.

Kaya, which is coming off a runner-up finish in the league last season, struggled under Rozen, who was hired in the off-season following the resignation of interim coach Kyle Alvarez.

After losing 1-nil to Pachanga-Diliman in his coaching debut, things started to get worse for Rozen and Kaya. Despite pulling off a 2-1 victory over the Green Archers United Globe in their second match, Rozen was sent off for storming to the field during a melee that broke out in the second half of the highly-physical match. Consequently, he was suspended in Kaya's next assignment against Nomads, which ended up in a scoreless draw.

Rozen, who had also a brief stint as Philippine U-19 men's coach in 2011, will watch his former team play reigning UFL Cup champion Stallion-Sta. Lucia tomorrow.  Kaya has yet to announce on who will coach the club on interim basis.
