Korean late goal propels Socceroos
MANILA, Philippines - Korean Min Seung Yeon came through with a late goal as Team Socceroo edged Navy FC, 1-0, in a rugged, highly physical match to grab the solo lead in the Second Division of the 2013 United Football League at the McKinley Hill grounds in Taguig City.
With the game appeared headed to a scoreless draw, Michael Mari Reyes set up Min for that 78th minute rocket as the Socceroo booters notched a follow-up to their 2-0 victory over the Union Internacional Manila side last Feb. 10 for the solo lead with six points.
So tense and physical was the duel that 12 yellow cards were called with Socceroo’s Moon Byung Hun drawing an automatic red card for two yellows, including on the 87th when they played with only 10 men.
In other results, Laos FC turned back Cimarron FC, 2-1, and Forza FC slammed Agila FC, 3-1.
Abubaker Abdullah scored the game-winning goal for Laos on the 73rd.
Isaac Agyi and Foday Nah Johnson gave Forza a 2-0 lead on the 52nd and 64th but Michael Manejaro kept Agila in the match on the 68th.
However, Dibi Pascal scored on the 85th minute to seal the victory for Forza FC.
It was Johnson and Pascal’s second goals of the season as they joined Agila’s Philip Zemen at No. 2 for most goals scored next to Agila’s Michael Manejero’s six.
